How to get that perfect grey palette

September 25, 2014

Grey is still in vogue with designers, but choosing the correct palette of greys is not as easy as it looks. Getting the right temperature is tricky: too warm or too cold can dramatically change the mood of a room.  Try to stay away from cold greys, instead lean towards greys with slight earthy undertones.

My favourite grey palette at the moment: Easy Greys from Farrow & Ball

These neutral greys are ideal for those who prefer understated decoration. Neither too cool nor too warm. They are comforting and easy to use.

The brighter the room the darker you can go.  Before you buy your paint ALWAYS put samples on the wall first.  If you are only decorating one room, put a sample up on each wall as every wall will look different in different light.

Try layering different greys, but always keep to the same tones.
